Why is wellie-buying so complex?

Just go to any outdoor clothing shop (the one on Trinity Street is good) and buy a pair of Hunters. I have two pairs, one blue and one pink, and some pink welly liners.
They last for ever although the pink ones faded.

Camping shops, garden shops, garden centres easy peasy purchase.
