Don't ask me why....
....but there are two. Unite (I think that's them - I fondly remember them as ASTMS when Clive Jenkins was around) for lower staff and an internally run one for higher staff.
Needless to say, the internally funded/run one has not teeth (but then in general trade unions don't nowadays anywhere except the public sector).
Even at the height of trade union militantism (not a word - sorry, but you know what I mean), there has only ever been one one-day strike at NU.
