I'm not going to reach any judgements from last night

Carling Cup games are a breed apart: glorified friendlies or reserve games pretty often. But I am concerned about where the goals are going to come from, and the lack of physicality, leadership and experience in the side. And I am heartily sick of our pathetic Cup record ever since 1996. It's a total embarrassment.

All it would take is one Cup run, just one sustained run, to give us something to remember and hold on to - but in its absence, and after yet another exit to a lower ranked club, of course people are going to get pissed off. And a good thing too - because if we weren't pissed off at all, we'd clearly be a small club with no ambition whatever.
