"He was a shy and withdrawn boy with a lack of self-esteem.

He appeared to be interested in demonology and his room was decorated with dark oriental themes.

It is pretty clear from the evidence that he was suffering from deep delusional views.

He was suffering from paranoid schizophrenia and appeared to be "under the thrall of a shade or demon who would tell him what to do".
