trust me, i know from personal experience,

as do many other of my mates who got in and were released because we weren't from the select 2/3. I saw a guy who was absolutely class. The best acadamy player there at the time, released because he didn't play for one of the select clubs. 2 weeks later he was having trials at West Ham, Spurs and Arsenal. They had heard about him and watched him play at city. As soon as he was released they pounced and he had the pick of the clubs.
