Excel database help please nerds

i am tippytapptyping away in a spreadsheet happy as larry, when all of a sudden in one of the cells the text remains stubbornly at the very bottom of the cell and not neatly at the top like all the others. i've tried putting the spreadsheet into reverse but it suddenly runs out of reverse-goes on that bent little arrow in the toolbar. i have looked everywhere for the cell gravity off button but to no avail. is my only option to waft a posi-drive mouse by my floppy disk port?
