If nothing else, you've got to admire D & MWJ for their media management
The night before the termination is to be announced, Mick Dennis writes his piece on why Cullum has too many big questions to answer, and therefore sticking with Delia is the right thing to do.
Then within an hour or two of the announcement, Waggers writes his piece headlined that Cullum is 'heading home to Maidstone with his billions' [reminder to readers- he doesn't live locally, unlike Delia]
and generally spinning the D & MWJ line - he wasn't offering a penny more than ?20m, D & MWJ are as committed as ever to finding fresh investment, Cullum could [read - should] have just given them a cheque for ?20m and let them carry on running the club as they see fit.
D & MWJ may or may not run the club well - I know there's different opinions on that. But you certainly can't fault their use of their pet journos to get their message out. Very efficiently done.
