I think the problem is that the debate always becomes personal, either instigated by you or not, and the baiters love it. A vicious circle, as when people know you are passionate about a subject, they can flip it back on you and use it as a weapon. The only thing you can do is try to reason your way out of it - but then you are labelled as argumentative, troll etc.

No-win i'm afraid. However I do think you should remember only a bery small majority of people actually post on here, there are infintely more lurkers - so you cant think that the vocal minority on here, trolling against you, are representative. People rarely post agreement on here, it is nearly always disagreement - the nature of message boards.
