I'd like to take my MA at the film school there eventually, this was the first time I visited.

Try not to waste money on taxis, you'll find you can hop onto a tram without paying but be careful, they have plain-clothed inspectors who will give you an on the spot fine if they catch you.

Make sure you buy a map as soon as you get there, you'll find one at any bookshop (księgarnia), have dinner at the Chłopska Izba on Piotrkowska Street at least once and, if you haven't yet found anywhere to stay, look up 3 Po 3 guesthouse - very cheap and very nice.

Other than that, it depends what you're interested in, there's a lot of museums and places of interest I can recommend.
