Right, can anyone with a better grasp of Buissiness

or the laws that govern Petrol companies tell me why this couldn't happen.

All of the big fuel companies make obscene amounts of profit. Shell have made 3.9 Billion in the first three months of this year, that's a lot. What's to stop someone like Richard Branson coming in, building a few refineries here and there. Putting up a load of Virgin petrol stations and selling fuel at a much lower price, say a few pence per litre more than what the government take. Surely this would force all the other companies to drop their prices to a similar level. I can't see who this would hurt other than the people benefiting from the fat profit's they are making.

I obviously know nothing about bussiness or petrol law so I'm assuming I'm missing something here.
