if you mean internationals they go on sale the previous autumn and the one dayers and first 3 days of the Tests usually sell out quickly.
On the 4th day of tests you can usually pick up tickets even on the day -- if there's play ! 5th day tickets are never pre-sold - all just pay on gate.
County games - loads of tickets available apart from 20-20 which again you should buy well in advance.
