I quite agree that there are plenty of player out there who could have played at a much higher level.

Roscoe, I think, lost out because of his date of birth, August as it turns out. Playing at centre half even at school, up against kids often nearly a year older. Basically, he wasn't up to them physically and got dropped by Norwich at 13, IIRC.

I bet if someone ever did an analysis of players by birth month, it would be weighted towards September and away from the summer months.
