I still think it is ridiculous but have friends in the UK who never email, yet

update their mongbook status to "just had a s**t", "now inhaling", "now exhaling" or even less interesting constantly all day. It has become a necessity. Still hate it though! But funny to see the photos of the wrathers and Kingsers anyway.
