His wife mentions on the phone that she posted the envelope the had the tape in it, to the DA's office. It had seemed to of slipped his mind that he had accidently left it on the table. So after he realised this his glass slipped out of his hand and smashed on the floor. So while in a state of shock, he just sat down. Later on the the police arrived to his house to arrest him because they received this information. He did not get away after all it seems.
