My concern is not so much that Fozzy might leave

because I think he is an amazing player but more that (i) i like his attitude and he seems a good bloke to have about the place (ii) I have some concerns about what it says in terms of what we are able to offer players this summer and (iii) the message it sends out to other teams/players if our captain is turning down a new contract.

If the likes of Doc and Fozzy are turning us down on the basis of the terms we offer are we really going to be able to attract the types of players we are looking for?

The other point is that the team does play considerably better when he is in the team but that could be dealt with by signing a suitable (and better) replacement. On balance therefore I would like to see him sign up but i agree I will not be devastated if he doesn't!
