Ashton and Earnshaw

Ashton:

I was at the Plymouth game that ended in 1-1 draw. Ashton didn't appear interested and his performance illustrated that; he couldn't be bothered and I distinctly remember him signalling to the bench on occassions during the game as he wanted to come off. For that reason, I was glad to see the back of such an apathetic player.

I can see why he wasn't interested in playing for Norwich City; Worthington had done an appalling job at rebuilding the side after relegation from the Premiership and if Ashton didn't want to play in such a s**t side containing crap like Thorne, Jarrett, Robinson and Hughes, who can blame him? He wanted to better himself, play in the Premiership, not for a mid-table Championship side under the leadership of a manager who'd lost the plot with a happy-clappy, talentless midfield attempting to supply him.

I was glad to see the back of Ashton after that Plymouth game and whilst part of me may miss his talent, I certainly don't miss his arrogance.

Earnshaw:

If he'd been playing in a decent team, then maybe his talent wouldn't have been wasted nor would he have scored lots of "meaningless goals".

Did he score meaningless goals? No. His goals kept us out of the bottom three in the first half of last season and Huckerby's form in the second half of it kept us up. I don't believe there are such a thing as "meaningless goals".

At times last season when we had Earnshaw, I thought we looked like a one-man army; he was the only player at times we could rely on to score.

Similar to Ashton, I didn't begrudge Earnshaw the chance to move to a Premiership club. He wanted to play at that level and who were we to stand in his way?

Earnshaw used Norwich City as a stepping stone to better things. End of.
