Heroes come and go....

....but I can't remember any star players (and yes Hucks is (whoops was) our only star player) being released and deemed by the manager not good enough to take the team forwards. Reeves, Woods, Bruce, Watson, Sutton, Fox, Bellamy et al all sold so maybe (or maybe not Sutton/Chase) it was time for them to move on but to be released what a kick in the teeth.
Without doubt in the last 6 weeks of the season he has been our best player proving a point at the time that it mattered once he had recovered full fitness.
Roeder is surely on borrowed time already...I certainly don't want him to fail but his track record speaks for itself...good half a season when he takes over clubs in trouble followed by poor second seasons....now he will have riled the majority of the fans by releasing our best player.
I cannot think of, nor have I seen one suggested on here, a suitable replacement who could match the form, pace, skill, fear or outright terror that Hucks has shown in last 4 years & indeed in last 6 weeks so why oh why oh why is he deemed not good enough. Surely it cannot all be wages related if he is good enough he will surely be paid accordingly & thats better than two replacements who cant match him.
I will stop waffling now, cross my fingers & hope for the best but I fear Roeder has just hammered in his first nail......and what does that mean for our team?
