Disgusted at the way Hucks has been shown the door

Darren Huckerby was a Norwich City legend. The best and most exciting attacking player we have had for a generation. Goals, pace, a top winger and striker, with charisma and star quality.

I still can’t believe I won’t see Huckerby at Carrow Road again. Despite his stuttering season, he showed more than enough in the last two months to suggest that he would have more than enough to offer to be a fixture in the team for another year.

But its not to be. That’s Glenn Roeder’s decision. A football decision. It is a decision I don’t agree with, but who are we to argue with a football decision? Roeder has overseen our rise from the bottom of the Championship to mid-table. We’ll need to see who comes in as a replacement. Letting a player go is not a crime, not replacing him is though.

But for Norwich City FC to shoo a City legend out through the back door, like some irritant child was not a football decision. It was a personal decision. A personal decision made out of spite, and one that portrays the club in the poorest possible light.

I can’t understand why it had to be that way. Huckerby was a top pro, gave his all, and I don’t believe he would have played differently in Sunday’s game had an official announcement not been made.

He should have had a send off at Sheffield Wednesday in front of the City fans. He deserved better. We, the fans, deserved better.

My club, Norwich City, has gone down hugely in my estimation today.
