Avenue Road Junior School ?

The names are familiar. I was there until 1965 . Mr Allen was the headteacher and Miss Ling a rather fearsome spinsterish teacher.

I passed my 11 plus there . I remember sitting in the hall with all the other year 6s taking a test but never being told that it was the 11 plus. I ended up at the CNS as it then was.

I also remember the concrete two tier playground and playing fearsome games of British Bulldog during break and lunchtimes; going off to teh Recreation Ground for sport and having regular afternoons off cheering on the netball team.

We had a crap football team and always got hammered by Bignold and South Harford.

Those were the days .
