Yup, I did reply. Couldn't resist. My email below.

Dear Ms Brown

Thank you very much for your prompt reply, regarding the matter of the rules regarding the number of loanees in the matchday squad. This is much appreciated.

Just to finally clarify this matter: as you point out, Sheffield Wednesday only ultimately fielded four of the six loanees that they named in their match squad.

But as you recognise, they had four loanees available on the bench, in addition to the two named in the starting line-up. And indeed they chose to bring on one of the four. (Of course, had they chosen to follow the prior rules, and therefore only field three loanee substitutes, the player they ultimately chose to bring on may well not have been available.)

So just to confirm - and this matters greatly because we here at Norwich are battling with SW against relegation - are we permitted to now name six loanees in our matchday squad, on the proviso that, as with Wednesday, only five or less actually take part in the game?

I seek clarification because it appears increasingly clear that SW will be allowed to keep the point they gained by contravening your rules. We are happy to pay a small fine each week to field six loanees, as it seems Sheffield Wednesday will do (or a small fee, as we would prefer to think of it), as long as we keep the points we gain.

Thanks again
