Travel to Fulham

Bit confused that everyone's talking about getting the train on Sunday - you have to get off at Witham & get a bus the west of the way, and total journey takes 2hr 50mins...
OR you can get the bus from Carrow Rd to Craven Cottage for ?5 & not have to worry about the tubes etc....................
