WHAT A STRANGE SITUATION WE ARE IN

at the moment. It's early March and our season is, to all intents and purposes, over. Glenn Roeder has done what he was initially appointed to do and has said that he will rebuild the entire squad this summer.

That is absolutely fair enough but leaves us in this weird situation where we are still getting good crowds, taking a good contingent to away games etc but who really cares what goes on on the pitch? We are watching players who won't be here next year and Roeder is obliged to play them. Even he can't really feel that he's doing any more than marking time. He says all this stuff about 'ten cup finals' etc but it's only PR spin isn't it? He's waiting for the summer like the rest of us.

I'm not moaning about this, it's just a consequence of Roeder cleverly exploiting the loan system to keep us up and is a rather bizarre outcome of a very practical method of working within the League's rules to achieve a short-term solution after Grant's mismanagement.

What's strange is that we can play really badly and nobody really cares. I hate that.

Somebody just reassure me that we're not going to get dragged back into the mess are we? There are jst too many teams below us who are worse, aren't there?
