and desperately high - the ball didn't seem to be the target. Over the ball tackles have always been the weaon of the thug in football, it is actually very difficult to go over the ball accidentally. It is generally a deliberate, cynical assault and deserves all the punishment it gets. As for being ridiculous, I well remember players from the 'mighty Leeds' amongst others having tackles like that as their trademark, it has no place in today's game. This is not the 70s.
