Parallels between UK and NL
The aftermath of this whole bombings thing really reminds me of the situation after Pim Fortuyn was assassination in Holland (and more recently Theo van Gogh but that didn't have as big an effect).
Suddenly some people you thought knew better are coming out with some outrageous beliefs and standpoints. Sorry to say this, but if this is anything like what we experienced in NL they are NOT emotional reactions but rather people showing their true colours now they feel the environment is ripe for them.
Since that time all foreigners have had a much tougher time in the Netherlands - yes, even the English although not as bad as non-whites - whether or not they speak the language / work / "integrate" / whatever.
Sad when you finally realise how all the attitudes you were proud of in your country turn out to be smokescreens.
