Footballers are actually wealth generators. They command such enormous wages because television will pay such absurd money for the rights to broadcast their activities, which in turn is because of mugs like us being prepared to stump up £50 a month

Whereas Ron's job is worth a lot of money because the government is hoping he will save them from further political embarrassment
