Basically, Yank slapper (Natalee) goes missing on Aruba 3 years ago,

three teenagers interviewed about it a few times and released, mother is friend of Dubya and embarks on McCann-style publicity thing, possibly mis-using a search fund on the way, but no evidence and no body every found.

Joran publishes book giving a different account of what happened than he gave police but still says he knew nothing of her death. Interview again, released again.

Dutch sensationalist undercover reporter uses known drug dealer (with Chelsea smile scar) to set up Joran in Holland and films him with secret camera chatting about what happened, but this time it's a third version.

Gets selectively aired on Dutch TV after reporter claims he has solved the mystery. Sloot claims he shagged her, then she had a fit and died, then he called a mate who dropped her body in the ocean. Laughs a lot. Nation goes into uproar and he's suddenly #1 murder suspect. Still no body though, and no evidence at all other than his video "confession".

Now it's gone massive in the States as well.

I think he was just a 21 year old t**t trying to appear big to the drug dealer, but that's not a good story so all the theories are constantly on TV, the news, the web, etc.
