I've still never really had an answer to my theological dilemma:

The Bible is, clearly, a complex, multi-authored document capable of alternative interpretation in a number of places. So it's not surprising that two people who both claim to follow it might actually believe different things in certain places.

However, or so it appears to my very simple mind, "Thou Shalt Not Kill" seems pretty unequivocal. Yet, if there's one thing most Christians don't seem to have a problem with, it's killing: both historically and today. There's even a theological doctrine of "Just War" to back this up: you can kill certain people simply because they were born in a different country to you, if their political rulers and your political rulers disagree sufficiently strongly.

What I still haven't got an answer to is, is it just this one Commandment that's got wiggle room? How about - to take a random example - the one on adultery? Is just a little shagging on the side, as long as she really wants it, alright?
