I would do that...

I have a standed 4-4-2 formation, with wingers pressing forward for the ball along with one striker (my the quickest one) And leave the whole team on zonal marking apart from the two centre halfs...with a short patient passing style in the championship, and a quick direct counter attacking style in the prem. Works wonders for me!
