Speculation that Paul Dalglish is set for a trial with Ipswich Town is wide of the mark with the 30-year-old merely using the Blues' training facilities during the MLS close season.

It is understood that Dalglish is good friends with Alex Bruce and the Town defender asked manager Jim Magilton whether the former Newcastle and Norwich man could brush up on his fitness at Playford Road.

Magilton was only too happy to be able to help Dalglish, who wants to make sure he is ready for the start of the MLS season with Houston Dynamo in the same way that David Beckham is currently training with Arsenal.

Magilton has helped out other players in the past with George Santos having spent some time training with the Town squad in the hope of finding another club.
