oops
just read my post and realised that i'm completely wrong.
the genitive (possessive) form of normal nouns used to be created with 'es'. This was abbreviated to 's
the genitive form of possessive pronouns and adjectives, however, has never been 'es' but just 's' (or nothing) :
my/your/his/her/its/our/your/their and
mine/yours/his/hers/its/ours/yours/theirs.
