ok, if you really want to 'do' barcelona, do the following

Gaudi's 2 houses and the Sagrada Familia

Take a cable car to the top of Mont Juic

Make sure you take a fernicular up to the top of tibidabo and do the 1950s theme park up there and do the church that overlooks the city, beautiful views

For day trips

1) Sitges - Gay capital! Little town but absolutely beautiful, and the sea is really nice, much better than barcelona beach (in fact, don't go to barcelona beach, it's full of condoms - especially on Sunday mornings) if you must, walk 15 minutes south to Barceloneta, much better

2) Figueras - Lovely town too, do the Dali museum

3) Montserrat - cannot recommend this trip enough, a monestery hidden away in the mountains. Will find a few pictures for you, simply stunning
