We stayed in Cran Gevrier (Annecy Sud), actually in

a dump of a hotel - we normally slum it at the local Ibis when with the dogs as they are the only chain we know who always allow pets - but we only slept there anyway. Spent most of our time climbing mountains, cruising the mountain roads, visiting Refuges and going out in the old part of Annecy, which was nice.

Oh, and I have now discovered that Geneva is s**t, as is Lausanne, but Montreux is rather nice and has a small smart proper castle.
