Christmas Party cancel -- what does it mean?

In HK there's not common and especially for me, but Norwich decide to cancel the Christmas Party -- does it mean (1) we don't have enough money to afford the party or (2) we want to fight for the play-offs now?
Sounds liked great determination from the management team and playing side now...
