'Tiny' Taylor better than the Ferdinand brothers?

People often wonder why the English are hated so much.

Some say it is the snobby attitude. Some say it is the superiority complex. Some say it is a hangover from the Empire.

However, Mediawatch thinks it is the unjustified arrogance employed by so many.

Just take a look at this beaut, dragged deep from the depths of the BBC Website in January 2003.

'Why England Will Qualify For Euro 2008' reads the staggeringly cocky, and of course marvellously inaccurate headline.

Mr Dan Warren then goes on to explain that Chris Kirkland will be 'the finest goalkeeper in the world' by 2008 (Kirkland was dropped by Wigan for the trip to Arsenal last weekend), while Martin Taylor would 'mop up when the siblings' (the Ferdinand brothers) rivalry causes them to lose concentration'. Taylor recently joined Championship strugglers Norwich on loan.

To be fair to Mr Warren, he does have Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen up front in his Euro 2008 'winning' team, but many, many points are knocked off for including Neil Mellor on the subs bench.
