who is the greatest boxer? Different weights/eras etc. Like any such thing (comparing different sports even more so) it is almost impossible to determine. Ali's stature and fame does come partly from his style, personality and impact which transcended just the sport itself. In that sense he is the standout sportsman in history and I must admit would have tipped him to win at the start.
