Southend - Worrying?
Went to the game today and although I know it's only a pre-season friendly, it is worrying. Midfield is typical of a Worthy preferred line-up with Hughes clearly the new Holt (runs around tackling anything that moves). No guile, no midfielder playing with their head by holding the ball up and releasing a defence-cutting pass. In short same old weaknesses. Back four looked shocking at times. When Freddie ran at Flem and Ginger Pele they panicked and Drury had a lousy first-half although he improved second. Clearly missing a right-sided midfield player which I suppose you can't blame the manager for at this stage. Thorne looked unfit and Colin looked good but seemed rather bemused by the lack of mobility from his surrounding team mates. Hope I'm wrong but not much to be optimistic about.
