Hi slater,
A mate here at work runs a few Joomla sites and rates it above Mambo and Drupal. Joomla was a fork of Mambo - more for political than functional reasons ( User Posted Link ) and they're very similar.
As for Joomla vs Drupal - look at: User Posted Link
According to this, Joomla has better functionality but Drupal is better for coding development and modification.
