What if...
All this delay has been as a result of us persuing Paul Jewell, who then turns us down. We will then have to go cap in hand to one of the other names mentioned, who will know that they were second choice (a la Maclaren for England), the players and fans too will know they were second choice, and morale does not significantly improve, with predictable and grim consequences. Its a dangerous game if that's what we're playing.
