Duffy is a tactical genius

Yesterday- starts with predictably over ambitious 433 against best home team in division... we get absolutely ripped to shreds for 15 mins, nearly 0-3, loads of space for west brom especially out wide

Switches back to 442 AFTER conceding, our best central midfielder (of a bad bunch) russell now asked to play widest on the right...confusion evident

Half time- switched again!, this time to 451...cureton now asked to play wide right midfield, martin up fronnt on his own (croft and chadwick both remain unused on bench)

We concede again, so duffy, responds again, quite brilliantly, by doing nothing, for ages. Perseveres with 1 up front despite having to chase game, isolated Martin sinking fast as another long ball aimed at him...midfield sitting on top of each other can't build up any kind of attack.

Finally, 15 mins left, still 2 down, duffy acts...takes off a forward and brings on another midfielder...we stay 451!

Croft immediately looks livelier than anyone else...twice crosses go into the deserted box...strihavka remains unused on bench...

This may be a team woefully bereft of quality (hello Mr Lappin) and confidence, but the mismanagement of Grant and now Duffy has been a big part of the problem.

No consistency of selection or system = a confused rabble.
