Was anyone else there today?

If so, can they explain to me why Cureton was playing on the right of midfield in a 4-5-1, leaving Martin as a lone striker and why we didn't bring any subs on until it was almost too late? It really f**ked me off. Are those on the bench stupid or plain inept? Or am I missing some (failed) masterplan?
