handicapping the new manager.
Im talking about the current odds from the pinkun below.
I bet sports for a living so I am fully used to handicapping various events to find value.
Some of the odds below are are total joke.
The odds on DD at 7 to1 are totally unrealistic.
Seriously, who believes that at this time we would appoint another unproven manager.
The true odds are much much greater.
I would book DD at 25 to 1 without blinking
Ian Crook, again is unproven and been out of the English system for a long time.
After Worthy left they were looking to take a risk, now
they want proven experience.
I would take bets in at 15 to 1 without blinking.
Mark Bowen...... again more of the same.
The board would get slated for his lack of mangement experience.
Jim Duffy has very little chance, they need change.
The new manager will be installed before the next game so he wont get a chance to win the job.
I would book this at 25 to 1 or greater and make money.
Peter Taylor........ too soon after being fired for poor performance, would not be seen as a step forward.
Martin Allen...........same as Peter Taylor.
So who are the likely candidates
Paul Jewell, no1 choice, but does he want it, probably waiting on Bolton or another high profile job.
Steve Bruce, meets the credentials and looks like he will
be avaialble, some value here at the right price
Joe Royle........ did well on a non existant budget at the scum. Has all the credentials and experience.
Dave Penny........ my choice but a real long shot.
Any thoughts?

"Paul Jewell 11-4, Ian Crook 5-1, Steve Bruce 13-2, Dion Dublin 7-1, Mark Bowen 8-1, Martin Allen 8-1, Jim Duffy 10-1, Joe Royle 10-1, Mike Newell 14-1. Glenn Hoddle 14-1, Peter Reid 16-1, Peter Taylor 16-1, Dave Penney 16-1,
Nigel Pearson 20-1, Geraint Williams 25-1, Stuart Pearce 33-1, Steve Tilson 33-1, Paul Ince 33-1, Kevin Keegan 33-1.
