“The term ‘black’, which at one time in Britain was felt to be derogatory, now has a positive meaning as a result of the political civil liberties movement in the 1960s and 1970s. However, black is an adjective and not a noun, and should always be used with ‘person’ or ‘people’, never on its own.”
