In fact, he is slightly right of Atilla the Hun. My parents (aged pensioners and Sun readers) loved him. Comments like 'He makes a lot of sense' made me cringe. His hate filled diatribes against people who could not fight back (Cherie Blair being a good example - nb I am no fan of hers either) were frankly sickmaking, but the blue rinse brigade, seeing only death and destruction in the Tory party, took to him big time.
