Again, it just wasn't my thing

In particular, the noise, mess, and suffocating engine fumes really got to me. There didn't really seem to be anywhere away from it, either; I hated Venice, too, until we got away from the bleating herds - the very first thing we did was find an anonymous alley and cut away into the back streets.

Funniest sight of the trip - a Carabinierie car, lights blazing, siren blaring (Sounds like a broken electronic bagpipe), trying to get through traffic. Not fast enough for the liking of the man riding shotgun, who was sitting on the window sill, waving a little white paddle and screaming abuse.

2nd funniest sight of the trip - bloke walking down the street, dressed to kill greaser-stylee. Stops dead at a parked moped to check himself out in the rear view mirror and adjust his hair. Priceless.
