and if i was writing a news article for a professional publication, i'd make an effort to get my punctuation right as well as my grammar.

what really annoys me though is when people act like they know what they're talking about but in fact they haven't got a clue. If you don't know the difference between a verb and an adjective, don't write about them. just like if you don't know the difference between a defender and a donkey you shouldn't manage a football team.
