Hate Grant Love Worthy?

My boys

I was intrigued to see a comment by Kevin Baldwin on Mr Waghorn's site earlier today. While discussing the future of our esteemed manger, he ventured: "Here's a curious thing, though. The two City fans I know who most want Grant to go are the ones who argued with me until the last that Nigel Worthington should be given more time to turn things around."

I don't know why the bald Baldwin finds this curious. There are plenty of City fans out there who are adopting something of an 'I told you so' mentaility about how the replacement of Grant has made no difference, and that therefore the 'Worthy Out' campaign was some kind of disloyal waste of time.

It is equally true that some of the more vocal agitators for the previous incumbent's dismissal are having to adopt a 'give Grant more time' position.

I don't see why it has to be this way. Just because I thought Worthy had reached the end of the line, must I be a staunch supporter of Peter Grant? I, like many, wanted a change in manager. I then reserve the right to judge the new boss based on his record. Heavens above, if you dumped an ex and then your next relationship ended in tears as well, does it necessarily mean you should have stayed with the first one? Of course not.

For the record, I'm happy to give Grant a bit more time, but I won't hesitate to change my mind if results don't improve. And it will not concern me that I wanted NW out as well.
