Actually I like the loophole theory which says that
it doesn't matter, as if the cat lands on its feet as it is supposed to, the toast has not in fact landed and no contradiction occurs. When the cat rolls over, the toast will "land" butter side down, therefore fulfilling both scenarios.
Ditto the other way around, except the cat is unlikely to roll over as it will be dead (but it will still not have landed)
