Advice please.

As I'm new to all of this, would any of you regulars care to give me a steer as to WOTB protocol? Any particular traps to avoid? I would hate to cause offence by using the wrong terms (I have already had the"scum" thing pointed out to me), inappropriate use of caps lock, or discussing unacceptable issues (I hear the Ipsw*ch fellows enjoy discussing Take That but I cannot imagine that is acceptable here). I would also appreciate any advice on who the playground bad boys are so that I can avoid having my dinner money pinched. Thanks in anticipation.
