The difficulty is knowing the real truth about the Board's

performance because we're obviously not privy to what goes on behind the scenes. Where there is no question that they have repeatedly got it wrong is over manager selection. I'm not just saying it now but PG was always going to be a gamble that we couldn't afford to take. If you think how many ex-players fail at management it's far greater than those that succeed and therefore the old alarm bells should've rung before they appointed. There's little wrong with the squad in terms of a mid-table finish but it's got to have the right man behind them and I have little confidence that our Board are capable of finding the right man. It never fails to amaze me who Chairmen will employ (how the hell does Bryan Robson and Gary Megson continue to get management jobs?) and they regularly show poor judgement. I think I'm right in saying that they employed the expertise of Dave Stringer when employing PG (?) If so, did he have a genuine input or was it simply a rubber stamping exercise?
