Now the dust has settled.
24 hours on and some reflections from yesterday. Even straight after the game I did not think Grant should necessarily go, despite the fact that the team looked pretty witless and wouldn't have scored if we'd played until Christmas. And this against the bottom side. However, the more I think about it the less chance I can see for it to be turned around. There came a moment in the Worthington saga when you just knew the balance had been tipped and there was no way back. The players as well as the crowd had clearly had enough, and once that happens it is over. We seem to have reached the same point now with Grant. Shame because I quite like the guy and I hope he does not get the same unjustified personal abuse that Worthington got. Ditto the Smiths and the board. I think they are genuinely doing their best for the club, and may well be realising now that Grant was the wrong choice. We may not be able to afford to do anything now. If not I fear for the rest of this season. If we can, who would prefer a wily old head (Royle, Warnock) and who favours an upcoming younger talent (Southend bloke whose name escapes me)? Surely we now need the former?
